The Sims Foundation was established in 2021 to facilitate and oversee family sponsorship at Christmas time and to lend a hand to those in our community who are living with and dealing with poverty. Our story however begins in 2009 where Andrea's dream of having her own charity to serve others began with a charity internship during university. Over the course of several years, moves, life experiences and connections, Andrea found a like minded group of people who were aligned with the values and vision of playing a part in changing and shaping the world especially around those who were falling through the cracks and living on the fringes of society. In 2019 there was a rise of need in the community and with the help of the Sims Real Estate Team, we were able to provide gift cards so that people were able to have a meaningful Christmas for their families. This project led to the formation of the official charity, bringing Andrea's dream together with a whole team's passion to serve. In 2022, we joined the global coalition to end sexual exploitation and made human trafficking prevention a pillar project along with family sponsorship.
